Family Owned

Family owned and operated since 1989, Ann Clark Cookie Cutters (The Cookie Cutter People from Vermont) has grown from a small gift company to the largest manufacturer of cookie cutters in America.

Soon after its launch the company became a family affair. Very supportive from the outset, Ann’s late husband John became Vice-President in 1996. That same year her late son, John Jr., served as a key player when he moved back to Vermont and daughter Elizabeth joined up as Sales Manager. Elizabeth has since moved on to other endeavors. Ann’s son Ben came on board in 1998 and is now the company’s CEO. Grandchildren Margaret, Rebecca and Alistair can be seen in company catalogs and also lend their services as cookie makers, tasters, and decorators.

Humble Beginnings

In 1989 Ann Clark started out with a pig-shaped Christmas ornament and a dream. After years of painting and creating small gifts for her children to give away she set up shop in her garage and turned a hobby into a business. In 1991 armed with a small amount of start-up cash and a large amount of enthusiasm Ann tackled her first trade show, setting up a booth at the Philadelphia Gift Show with six cookie cutter designs and several other handmade crafts. She came home with $3,500 in orders and launched Ann Clark, Ltd.

Ann and her family soon realized that in order to grow the business the company would need to transform from a purchaser of cookie cutters for her gift sets into a manufacturer of cookie cutters. This plan took off when her son Ben left a position at Black & Decker to lead the effort. With a degree in Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration, Ben applied his education and experience to create an efficient manufacturing process housed in a modern facility in Rutland, Vermont.

Ann’s artistic flair and love for baking has produced a broad product line of cookie cutters and related giftware. The company is now the largest cookie cutter manufacturer in America with accounts throughout the United States and Canada and worldwide.

Today Ben and Ann continue to work together leading a team of dedicated employees who make up “The Cookie Cutter People from Vermont.”
