WHO WE ARE (HISTORY OF SWISS DIAMOND®)

Swiss Diamond® International can trace its roots back to 1974, when HORT Coating Center SA was founded in Sierre, Switzerland, as a scientific research company exploring new materials and surface coatings. Fast forward a few years to 2001, when a revolutionary nonstick coating suitable for use on cookware was developed, which led to the creation of Swiss Diamond® International SA. In 2010, after years of additional research and exhaustive testing, Swiss Diamond® engineers improved their revolutionary coating by 30 percent overall, leading to various awards and world-wide recognition. To this day, all products designed by Swiss Diamond® are manufactured with this cutting-edge “HD” nonstick surface coating.

Swiss Diamond® has been called “the Rolls-Royce” of nonstick fry pans by the Wall Street Journal; has been named “best nonstick cookware” by the leading U.S. consumer ratings organization; and is recommended by the Cooking Club of America. It is recommended for vegan and vegetarian cooking by the American Vegetarian Association and has won numerous other international and regional awards.

INTRODUCTION TO SWISS DIAMOND® PRODUCTS

The increased demand for premium cookware during the 1990’s set in motion HORT Coating Center’s research for an advanced nonstick coating. Initially, HORT began searching for ways to improve their pre-existing titanium-reinforced coating. During that time, finely-ground titanium was considered the best choice for reinforcing nonstick cookware surfaces. However, HORT soon realized that a different reinforcement material would bring additional advantages. The main criteria for improvement? Extreme hardness and excellent thermal conductivity, which led us straight to diamonds.

Swiss Diamond® cookware features a patented nonstick cooking surface reinforced with real diamond crystals. This unique coating makes for effortless food preparation and clean-up. If treated properly, the surface is extremely long-lasting – it will not peel, crack or blister. Plus, their products are completely free of potentially-harmful PFOA chemicals (certified by the Danish Testing Institute), providing additional ease of mind to your family.
