Ingredients:
- 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
- 1/4 cup beef broth or water
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- Cooked rice, for serving
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
- Sliced green onions, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- In a medium bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef with soy sauce and cornstarch. Toss until the beef is evenly coated. Set aside to marinate for 10-15 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, beef broth or water, oyster sauce, and hoisin sauce to make the stir-fry sauce. Set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the marinated beef to the hot skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes without stirring to allow the beef to sear and develop a brown crust.
- Flip the beef slices and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, or until they are bright green and tender-crisp.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the broccoli.
- Pour the prepared stir-fry sauce over the beef and broccoli mixture. Stir well to coat everything evenly with the sauce.
- Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce has thickened and coats the beef and broccoli.
- Remove the skillet from heat and serve the Beef and Broccoli Stir-fry immediately over cooked rice.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, if desired.
