A savory, crispy, and flaky pancake filled with the aromatic flavor of fresh scallions. Chinese Scallion Pancakes are a beloved breakfast snack that’s easy to make and incredibly satisfying. Serve them with a light dipping sauce for a perfect start to your day.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup hot water
  • ¼ cup sesame oil
  • 1 cup finely chopped scallions
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour and hot water. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  2. Let the dough rest for 20 minutes.
  3. Roll the dough out into a thin sheet. Brush with sesame oil, sprinkle with chopped scallions and salt.
  4. Roll the dough up like a log, then coil it into a spiral. Roll it out again into a flat circle.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the pancake on both sides until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove from the pan, slice, and serve with a dipping sauce.
