A savory, crispy, and flaky pancake filled with the aromatic flavor of fresh scallions. Chinese Scallion Pancakes are a beloved breakfast snack that’s easy to make and incredibly satisfying. Serve them with a light dipping sauce for a perfect start to your day.
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup hot water
- ¼ cup sesame oil
- 1 cup finely chopped scallions
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and hot water. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Let the dough rest for 20 minutes.
- Roll the dough out into a thin sheet. Brush with sesame oil, sprinkle with chopped scallions and salt.
- Roll the dough up like a log, then coil it into a spiral. Roll it out again into a flat circle.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the pancake on both sides until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the pan, slice, and serve with a dipping sauce.
