Start your morning with a punch of flavor! Kimchi Fried Rice is a popular Korean comfort food that brings together tangy kimchi, steamed rice, and a touch of spice. Top it off with a fried egg for a satisfying breakfast that’s ready in minutes.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup chopped kimchi
- 2 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old)
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp gochujang (Korean red pepper paste)
- 1 green onion, chopped
- 2 eggs (for topping)
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
Instructions:
- Heat sesame oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped kimchi and sauté for 2–3 minutes.
- Stir in the cooked rice and mix well until evenly coated.
- Add soy sauce and gochujang, stir-fry for another 3–5 minutes.
- In a separate pan, fry eggs sunny-side-up.
- Plate the kimchi fried rice, top with egg, green onions, and sesame seeds.


Suggested Pairing:
Serve with a side of cold cucumber kimchi and a warm cup of roasted barley tea (bori-cha) for a balanced breakfast.
