Quench your thirst with the refreshing taste of Lavender Lemonade. This delightful beverage combines the citrusy tang of lemons with the subtle floral notes of lavender for a unique and soothing drink. Follow these steps to make your own Lavender Lemonade at home.
Ingredients:
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
1 tablespoon dried culinary lavender buds
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4-5 lemons)
4 cups cold water
Ice cubes
Fresh lavender sprigs and lemon slices for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- In a small saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has completely dissolved, creating a simple syrup.
- Once the sugar has dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the dried culinary lavender buds to the simple syrup, stirring to combine.
- Allow the lavender buds to steep in the simple syrup for about 5-10 minutes, depending on your desired level of lavender flavor. Be careful not to steep for too long, as the lavender taste can become overpowering.
- After steeping, strain the lavender-infused simple syrup through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a large pitcher to remove the lavender buds. Discard the buds.
- Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice to the pitcher with the lavender-infused simple syrup.
- Stir in 4 cups of cold water to the pitcher, mixing well to combine all the ingredients.
- Taste the lavender lemonade and adjust the sweetness and tartness by adding more sugar or lemon juice if necessary, according to your preference.
- Place the pitcher of Lavender Lemonade in the refrigerator to chill for at least 2 hours, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Once chilled, remove the pitcher from the refrigerator and give the lavender lemonade a good stir.
- To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled Lavender Lemonade into each glass.
- Garnish each glass with a fresh lavender sprig and a slice of lemon, if desired.
- Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing and floral flavor of Lavender Lemonade on a hot day!
